Dr. Nicole Prewitt serves as the Director of Programs and Partnerships for Community Engagement in the Center for Community-Based Partnerships at the University of Alabama (UA) in Tuscaloosa. She works with diverse stakeholders such as neighborhood associations, higher education institutions, and members of the faith, public health and legal/criminal justice communities. As a board member, Dr. Prewitt is involved with ITGA based on two of her primary responsibilities at the UA: the Neighborhood Partnership Committee, which works with neighborhoods to improve relationships among students, law enforcement and property managers; and HomeFirst, a financial wellness initiative that serves individuals and families on their path toward first-time homeownership. Dr. Prewitt believes the board’s biggest priorities this academic year is to amplify the role of anchor institutions in COVID-19 recovery and in racial justice and reconciliation.
