A dedicated housing professional, Durham alumna, and proud city resident, Hannah boasts a 22-year career spanning construction, social housing, and higher education. Today, she serves as Durham University’s Off-Campus Housing (Strategy & Partnerships) Lead.
In this strategically vital role, Hannah leads the University’s off-campus housing initiatives, navigating a highly-concentrated local market to support the diverse needs of over 10,500 students who ‘live out’ beyond the University’s 17 Colleges each year. She acts as a key bridge between internal University teams and vital external partners—including Durham County Council, Durham Students’ Union, landlords, and Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) providers.
Holding chartered membership with the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) for over 10 years, Hannah has extensive experience navigating legislative reform at a national level. Working between the public and private sector, and building lasting relationships between partners is her passion. She confidently champions partnership working between HEIs and providers of student accommodation, and is a keen advocate for meaningful data sharing and utilisation of insight to drive improvement. A cornerstone of her collaborative impact is her work driving forward the Durham City Student Lettings Code of Practice, through which Hannah has worked with members preparing the Durham student community for the commencement of major new housing legislation - the Renters’ Rights Act (2025).
Having served as the city's Community Liaison Manager from 2018 to 2025, Hannah brings a wealth of trusted stakeholder relationships and deep local insight to her work. She is driven by an enduring passion for Durham and a personal commitment to ensuring that every student who comes to share in the Durham experience enjoys a safe, positive, and well-supported housing journey in the city she proudly calls home.
