Ryan Heiland is the City Manager for the City of Maryville, Missouri, bringing more than 20 years of experience in government affairs, planning, economic development, and public administration. A 1999 graduate of Northwest Missouri State University, Ryan has served the Maryville community since 2012, first as Assistant City Manager and now as City Manager.
Ryan began his career in local government with the City of Phoenix, Arizona, and has since held leadership and planning roles in communities across Arizona, Iowa, and Missouri. He holds a Master of Public Administration (MPA) with an emphasis in public policy from Drake University and is a Certified Planner (AICP) through the American Planning Association.
An active leader within the local government profession, Ryan remains engaged with both the Missouri City Managers Association (MCMA) and the International City/County Management Association (ICMA). Throughout his tenure in Maryville, he has been recognized nationally for his work in community development, municipal governance, and town-gown collaboration.
Ryan is a frequent speaker at regional and national conferences and has presented to organizations including the International City/County Management Association (ICMA), the International Town & Gown Association (ITGA), the National League of Cities (NLC), and the American Water Works Association (AWWA), sharing insights on community partnerships, economic development, and innovative local government practices.
